The Greatest Amusement Parks in India

With being an adult and working comes all the stress of daily life. We all look for a break and usually resort to nature for the answer. But have you ever thought that your kids might need a break too? They are also pawns in this competitive world, and it doesn’t take away anything from you if you give them their well-deserved outing.

Amusement parks are always the answer to such a problem. A day here can reduce your stress levels, and you can be assured of having the time of your lives. Besides, the kids will thank you for it. India has many such amusement parks, but only a few of them are worth visiting and spending money for. Here are some of them.

1. Wonderla Amusement Park, Kerala

This comes first on the list because I’ve been here multiple times and it’s another world altogether. Situated on a hill, approximately 12 km from Kochi, this is a must-visit place when you come to Kerala.

One thing is for sure: you cannot finish all the rides in one day. With that being said, you can now imagine how vast it is. There are land rides and water rides within the park. If your kids are very small, there are rides for them as well. The only rule here is that you cannot get into the land rides after getting into the water rides. The reason is obvious because they don’t want the land rides to get wet.

After getting wet, you can change your clothes in the changing rooms. They’re large and contain multiple lockers. Not all amusement parks in India have this facility, so that’s a good thing about Wonderla. There are many eating outlets in the park itself, so you don’t have to worry about that too. You can even buy some clothes from the amusement park (if you haven’t brought additional ones).

Regarding the rides, I love the Twin-Flip Monster, Space Gun and Maverick in land rides. Thunder Fall is also nice. When it comes to water rides, you’ll be spoilt for options. Make sure you go to the Rain Disco. Other than that, all the rides and pools are amazing. It’s truly a treat.

2. Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad

Spanning over a large area of 2000 acres (that’s right), this film city is nothing less than a dream. It holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest film studio complex in the world.

Millions of tourist visit this studio every year; some in the hope of seeing a Bollywood celebrity while some just to admire this marvellous place. A lot of Bollywood films are shot here. 3-star and 5-star hotel facilities are available in the compound itself, and they are open to the visitors as well.

A fun-filled amusement park is also constructed within the Film City which is a definite plus for the kids. Other than this, acres of well-kept gardens and grand restaurants and much more can be seen here. You can opt for a tour of the sets where famous stars have done their shooting. It is indeed a good experience. They also accept and make arrangements for weddings or corporate events.

3. Adlabs Imagica, Mumbai

This is one of the best amusement parks in the country because they are truly international in all respects. The park has won accolades for the innovative technologies incorporated into their rides.

The park is actually divided into three: Theme Park, Water Park and Snow Park. They boast of India’s largest indoor snow park. Moreover, they have included 3D and special effects in their theme parks. Their rides are not for the faint-hearted. But rest assured, there are separate rides for the kids too.

The park also consists of some fantastic diners and restaurants. It is a must-visit place if you are in Mumbai.

4. Wonderla Amusement Park, Bangalore

You might be thinking that I accidentally repeated the name. But no, Wonderla was the first amusement park to open in Kochi and then Bangalore as well.

Thousands of families visit this amazing amusement park every day. You can naturally expect the park to be much more crowded on the weekends. Many websites state that the Wonderla in Bangalore is the best amusement park in the country and it deserves to be.

Surrounded by greenery and well-connected by the main road, this park is easy to reach. Most of the rides are same as that of their park in Kerala, but some are different and much better. A truly exciting place to spend time at.

5. Water Kingdom, Mumbai

This amusement park gets a name on the list because of it has the biggest wave pool in the world! Their wave pool spans more than 100 metres, and you can just imagine how fun it would be.

Besides this unique factor, Water Kingdom has many land rides also. But it is mainly famous for its water rides. So if you are a water baby, this should be your #1 amusement park.

6. Essel World, Mumbai

Adjacent to the Water Kingdom, Essel World has only land rides. It is one of the oldest amusement park/theme parks in our country, and yet, it is visited by hundreds of families each day.

The Park surely has some amazing rides, and it’s continually upgraded. In fact, many Mumbai residents still prefer coming to Essel Park than going to the other ones. This could be due to its old charm and exciting environment (which is present in all the amusement parks but for the locals, this is a place they’ve seen most often while growing up).

Essel World has many small eating outlets near it so you can ravish all the food after an exciting and tiring day. Up for it?

Nice article! I specially have fond memories of Ramoji and Imagicaa Theme park. I guess Imagicaa is the best place near Mumbai for families, especially big ones like ours.
