You’ve heard of the ritzy Hauz Khas Village in Delhi, but there’s another lesser known and much cheaper food haven you should visit too – Hudson Lane.
Hudson Lane is packed with over 70 restaurants, and because it’s right next to Delhi University’s massive North Campus it features pocket-friendly prices at around half the price of Hauz Khas for similar quality.
These places aren’t super cheap eats, you can get simple Indian meals for much cheaper, but in terms of the quality you’re getting they’re very competitive with each dish between 70 – 199 INR. The hygiene standard is also very high too, so it’s perfect for foreign travellers.
To get to Hudson Lane take the Yellow Metro Line to G.T.B. Nagar station and exit through Gate 4.
Cafeteria & Co.
$ – Continental & Indian

Cafeteria & Co. is the place to eat on Hudson Lane. It’s like walking into a beautiful old wood inspired cafe that you might find in Europe. Avoid going here during the weekend as they’ll likely be a queue to get in.
You can order pasta, burgers, or Mexican, but their sharing plates are the best. They’re known for their great Peri Peri Chicken/Paneer and their fries with 9 different sauces to choose from. Their Bang Bang Chicken is a favourite of mine.

Big Yellow Door
$ – Continental & Indian

Big Yellow Door, also know as BYD, is similar to Cafeteria & Co. in terms of great atmosphere and menu. But where they have the edge is their Kit-Kat Shake and Butter Chicken Pizza. Their White Sauce Pasta (as it’s called in India, it’s a creamy and cheesy pasta sauce) is also a student favourite.
Spezia Bistro
$ – Everything!

Spezia has a massive menu! They serve everything including Chinese, Indian, Continental, Italian, Tibetan, and more. If you want variety to go to Specia.
The tastiest dishes I’ve had at Specia are the sizzling Momo Platter, Hakka Noodles, and the Baked Chicken Toscana.
Kake Di Hatti
$ – Punjabi

Just off Hudson Lane is the best Punjabi Dhaba in the area, Kake Di Hatti. These guys have over 30 different varieties of stuffed Indian bread to try! The hardest part is choosing which to enjoy. I recommend you go for my favourite Aloo Naan + Chole + Raita combo.
Don’t over order here as the naan breads are massive! One combo is enough for even the biggest eater.
The Burger Club
$$ – Burgers

When I found this place, I was a little surprised. The Burger Club seems to have cloned the Burger Fuel restaurant from my home of New Zealand. They have a Kiwi burger, kumara fries, burger holders, and similar branding! But never mind, because their kumara fries and mutton burgers are my favourites in Delhi after the more expensive Buffalo burgers at Fork You in Hauz Khas.
Diet Dabba
$ – Healthy

I used to frequent the Diet Dhabba two or three times a week after my workout sessions to get my protein hit. Their chicken sandwich that has perfect 30 grams of lean protein in it.
Everything on their menu is made the healthiest way with as little fat and sugar as possible. Their ingredients are bought fresh daily, and they even make their own substitute for tomato sauce.
